per request of my sister, i am writing something new. but if you miss crack man, he's only a scroll below.
so wednesday was one of those days that can be described by saying when it rains it pours, or snows rather. i had to be at a shoot at 6:30 am in salt lake city. I had to get up at 5:15 to be there on time ( http://www.mountainlanddesign.com/l ) It was a really cool place to film, but it was so bloody early. they wanted us out before they opened at nine am.
well that was the first. charles and i rushed home to make it to two sound booth recordings. then i had to run to class. following class i rushed to another film shoot on campus. rushing being the key word. our shoot had to be at the beginning of this teacher's class because that was when he plays U2 music to his class, blah blah blah.
whatever the case it was a long long day. i've been sitting at my desk twitteling my thumbs watching high definition trailers on my massive computer screen with my genelec speakers. and then BAM! four places for me to be in one day. sound rules.

the dmv

As you can see I had the BEST seat at the DMV today. the purple car is now a member of utah. i spent the 100 dollars i was planning on spending on john mayer on licensing the car. well i guess it was only 1/2 of what i was planning on spending for mayer since i was going to buy two tickets. i'm still a little sad that i'm not going, but atleast i have this man's crack to console me.

long time gone
i'm listening to dixie chicks' long time gone right now as i write.
in a very crude way, i'd like to explain how i feel. i would like to use a very large zit to represent my life. until last week the white nasty part of my life finally came to a head and popped! there are still my normal things to worry about, but my life for the moment doesn't hurt right now. it was nice to go to arizona and having nothing really to worry about.
i guess the best part for me was the fact that i finally have a car again. no more burb driving. and the honda showed it's true colors as i drove it home from mesa yesterday. 10.5 hours, with a stop to visit my friend for about an hour in flagstaff. no problems from the car and that's what i like.
i enjoy my family. i still have to sometimes remember that my older siblings are parents and in charge of the care of little kids. i spent some time playing nintendo and loved the fact that seth wanted to sit there and watch me. on sunday morning he came up to me and say "nick, let's do something, just the two of us." basically meaning play mega man and i'll watch. the phrase "growing up" seems in a away perpetual to me because there will probably always be kids growing up and for a long time because emily won't be having kids for atleast 10 years or so. and she'll start having kids and i would say that maybe when she hits 30, seth will be married and having kids. kind of a crazy thought.
perpetual growing up. which means i NEVER have to grow up since there will always be kids around for me to play with. haha. yay!

This is the first rough cut of my application video which I will be handing in to the department in 10 days along with all the other crap I've mentioned in earlier posts. I have to admit, it's not what I saw being created but ultimately it will get the same message across. I think it's unique and different than anything else they'll get.
PS when i say rough cut, I mean the video is pretty much locked, but the audio is yet to be worked on. I have ten days....plenty of time. haha.

UNITED

i left my house today to see a big "United" truck sitting there parked in road. i had a flashback if you will of our past moves and laughed a bit. it's about that time where my dad has the four or five year itch, and it's funny that the van wasn't there to move us! not for another 5 or 6 years probably and by then i BETTER not be living there. haha.

this is what should have won.
do you think it's because the votes were split between all three dreamgirls songs? i'll just say that... so good. notice the third song and the extremely high note hit by girl number three.

black wednesday
well we dropped eric off today at the mtc. it was bittersweet for all. my thoughts while sitting in the family/missionary meeting consisted of two things:
1) this movie is really outdated. maybe my boss would be down for remaking it when he gets home in three years. i bet he'd like the challenge.
2) thank heavens it's not me getting dropped off this time! i was feeling pretty anxious, but it helped to know that at the end of the hour, i would be going through the door that said "family exit."
3) i'm a much different person than i was two years ago. no where near where eric is as being prepared for a mission goes. but in these past few years, i've learned more about myself. yes, i'm a different kid, but that's what i like about myself.
also i realized that i have had a knot in my stomach for the past month and it's not getting any better. coming to work today didn't make it any better. we have so much to do. i guess the next thing to look forward to will be the trip to arizona in march. but it's going to be a beast of a time working up to that day before we go.
5th gear, here i go.

just a quickie
Tonight for my sound class we went to a concert on campus. It was a choir concert. As I sat there listening for natural reverb and natural resonance I found myself not missing choir singing really at all. It just seems so boring! Sure, it's very pretty, but I got bored tonight. That was the first thing I realized. Don't miss choir (eventhough if I want a music minor, i might have to be in choir for a while...)
The second thing it caused me to ponder on was how my scholastic desire has changed since I was about emily's age. I bring this up because a member of our class was singing tonight and was worried he'd miss the lecture, not get participation points, and *gasp!* maybe not get a perfect grade in the class. richard, my teacher, assured him last thursday night that he could listen just from a different point of view.
When I was emily's age all the way up until probably my second year in high school (being 11th grade) I was like that. I remember being so nervous over this and nervous over that. blah blah blah. emily was home the other day and flipped out over some assignment that she forgot to do or something and she was almost in tears. i kind of want that to come back! i get so lax with my class attendance now. once i figured out i could get away with it in high school, there was no turning back. and college has even more freedoms. i pick the lectures i want to hear, and the lectures i want to miss. it's a terrible habit! and i'm trying to break myself from it. i don't think i'll stop until i completely bomb a class and get a d or some joke like that.
take for instance a five page paper due tomorrow. have a started? no. will i tonight? yes. will it take me longer than an hour? no. will i get anything lower than an a-? well if it's like the last paper i wrote for this class, no. granted, i've had classes, and papers where i feel the need to get started on early. take for instance my application packet. i'm taking that VERY seriously. it all goes back to the balance thing. once i've learned how much it takes to please a teacher, i'll only go that far even if i know i could give more.
it's a terrible habit, and one day it will burn me and it will burn me bad.
